Welcome to the Youth American Flag Football League (YAFFL), the first league of its kind in Southern Africa, launched in April 2024. Flag football, a fast-paced, non-contact version of American football, promotes teamwork, strategy, and skill development. YAFFL provides a platform for young athletes to showcase their determination, talent, and sportsmanship, helping to elevate the sport within the region.

The 2025 season marks an exciting milestone in the growth of flag football in South Africa. With 12 teams across two age divisions—U14 (14 years and younger) and U17 (17 years and younger)—and over 150 registered players, the league has expanded significantly since its inception. This season emphasizes accessibility, inclusivity, and growth, ensuring that every young player, regardless of background, gender, or experience, has the opportunity to participate, develop their abilities, and thrive. With a strong focus on creating a supportive and dynamic environment, the 2025 season is set to be a defining chapter for YAFFL and youth flag football in South Africa.
