The first season of the Youth American Flag Football League (YAFFL), launched in April 2024, marked a historic moment for the sport in Southern Africa. With four teams—the Lions, Harlequins, Commandos, and Eagles—competing in the U15 age division, the inaugural season was a testing ground, allowing the league to establish its foundation. It was a season of growth, learning, and building a sense of community, all while giving young athletes the opportunity to showcase their talents, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Building on the success and lessons of that first season, the 2025 season is set to be even bigger and more exciting. With more teams and players joining, plus the introduction of two age divisions, the league is expanding its reach and providing even greater opportunities for young athletes to develop and compete.
